TabWare is being used to standardize maintenance management operations in a wide area network environment for this globally recognized computer technology company. The initial project involved 37 sites in North America, 200 concurrent users and approximately 1000 total users. Anderson University, a private liberal arts university located in Anderson, SC recently took a leap in technology for its students, faculty and administration with the implementation of AssetPoint’s TabWare maintenance software product for processing and execution of maintenance work requests. After an evaluation of various solutions, TabWare had previously been chosen by Anderson University to assist with the management of the college's physical property, mechanical equipment, and building and grounds. The Physical Plant is responsible for 29 buildings (563,000 sq. ft. floor space), 11 houses, and 56.4 acres.
With TabWare’s web-based work request module, students and administrators easily access a secured window from the Anderson University Intranet system and quickly enter a request for any type of service needed from the maintenance department. The requestor is simply required to enter their name, location, telephone number and a description of the request. Once the requestor provides this information, it is immediately sent to the maintenance department for processing. The work request is automatically printed in the maintenance department for routing to the appropriate technician for a response to the request. Once the request has been addressed, the appropriate response remarks and cost information is entered back into the TabWare application and the work request is recorded as complete. The information can easily be searched and retrieved on-line at a later time as needed for history analysis or cost reporting.
Prior to TabWare, all requests were received by telephone or E-mail in the maintenance department, which required a full-time administrator to manually record and process all work requests. All requests were recorded on paper with no electronic records to provide an audit trail. With TabWare, all requests now come electronically from the original requestor and are automatically printed in the maintenance department. In addition to work order and spare parts tracking, the system also provides the maintenance department with easy access to historical information on repairs, helping to isolate problem areas and equipment.
