Greenville, SC – July 1, 2015 – AssetPoint, a leading provider of Computerized Maintenance Management Software / Enterprise Asset Management (CMMS / EAM) solutions, announced today that Dakota Prairie Refining, LLC has fully implemented TabWare CMMS / EAM solution for their asset management and procurement needs at their new refinery near Dickinson, ND.
Dakota Prairie, the first new oil refinery to be built in the U.S. in over 30 years, processes 20,000 barrels per day of locally available crude oil and recently started their production of diesel fuel. The grassroots construction project began in March 2013 and was completed in early 2015. Dakota Prairie Refining is owned and operated by WBI Energy, (a business unit of MDU Resources Group, Inc.) and Calumet Specialty Products Partners, two financially strong, well-established partners that have complementary capabilities and expertise. Both owners are committed to safety and operating in an environmentally responsible manner.
TabWare was originally selected by the Dakota Prairie management team based on its ease of use advantages for maintenance personnel and proven success in the Oil & Gas industry. TabWare is used to manage all equipment, maintenance, warehouse inventory and purchasing activities at the refinery. Dakota Prairie began its implementation of TabWare over a year in advance of the refinery start-up, enabling the maintenance organization to load equipment into TabWare as it was installed. Dean Volesky, the refinery’s maintenance manager, says “TabWare does everything we need to do and is easy to use for both our Maintenance staff and Operations.” Carrie Kappes, warehouse supervisor for the refinery adds, “I’ve used TabWare at another refinery and was glad to see it implemented here at Dakota Prairie Refining.”

TabWare’s demonstrated ease of use for rig managers and field technicians allows rapid user adoption without disrupting day-to-day operations. The Oil & Gas industry is dependent on the success of their assets, and TabWare’s preventative maintenance (PM) system is the first line of defense against unplanned downtime and equipment failures, resulting in an increase of the number of operating days in the field and average revenue per day.
AssetPoint Director of Global Accounts, Brad Smith said, “We are excited that Dakota Prairie is off to a successful start with our TabWare solution and look forward to a long relationship. Their commitment throughout the implementation process and providing the appropriate resources and focus at all levels was a primary factor in the achievements that they are experiencing now.”
